When you, entering a forest, perceive the beauty of the forest and you feel to be in a complete harmony with it, then, intuitively, you are in peace with the Deities. They are an essential part of our real nature, our Deep Nature, and when we are separated by our real nature we live in the fear. Perceiving such normality means giving a real sense to our lives.

Undertaking the Roman Via to the Deities implies a path to awakening: with the practice of continuing consciousness and awareness we undertake our walking knowing that taking the path is more important than the destination itself

25 Dicembre: Sol Invictus

December 25th: Sol Invictus

December 25th is dedicated to "Sol Invictus" (Invincible Sun) celebrating the perpetual light's vitality.

This is a particularly old festivity already known and celebrated by ancient egyptians: divine energy "Earth's Heart" or "Intelligent Light" flows into a sacred cone shaped stone (Betilus - Gods' See) or in black stones or flash stones.

Sol Invictus was a special protector of the Emperor and the entire Roman Empire.

In this day an omnipotent, eternal and universal single sole God is celebrated whose most splendid manifestation is the Sun. This Great One has the Substance which Gods are formed of.

For this reason, christianity took possession of this ancient pagan festivity making it coincide with Christmas and the Jesus' birth.

21 Dicembre: Divalia

SACRA PRIVATA PERPETUE MANENTO

E Nos Lases Ivvate (tre volte)
Neve Lve Rve Marmar Sins Incvurrere in Pleores (tre volte)
Satvr Fv Fere Mars Limen Sali Sta Berber (tre volte)
Semvnis Alternei Advocapit Conctos (tre volte)
E Nos Marmar Ivvato (tre volte)
Trivmpe (cinque volte)

December 21st: Divalia

This day is dedicated to an ancient Goddess, Angerona - Dea Dia, so ancient that also for Romans was rather mysterious. This day and Dea Dia are devoted to the rites of a particularly important moment of the year: the winter solstice

In this peculiar day named dies brevissimus (shortest day), the Ianua Coeli (The Sky Gates) are opened (the Ianus' golden key) and light preavils again over darkness. The biological cycle of life begins again.

The importance of Dea Dia is given also by the fact that the temple of this Goddess, on 19 or 29 May, was the sacred place where the Arvales met to attend to important liturgies (Arvalia) in favour of Lares. Arvales, dressed with white gowns (white expresses magical sovereignty) through ceremonies for Dea Dia, Lares and Mars-father affirmed the ties of the mankind with Mother Earth.

During this day, which marks the beginning of the Arvalic Year, we remember our Lares or The Ancestors and the future descendants; we, the living part of the family, thus are the "present ring" of a long chain being suspended between past and future.

The Lar Familiaris is the "family's soul" whose symbol is the home firelight as in the case of Vesta Mater.

The home ceremony must be made after the sunset being addressed to the imagines of the two Home Lares (representing the two universal polarities: masculine and feminine).

The opening formula is as follows

SACRA PRIVATA PERPETUE MANENTO

Then the Ancient Invocation (Semones) of the Arvales:

E Nos Lases Ivvate (three times)
Neve Lve Rve Marmar Sins Incvurrere in Pleores (three times)
Satvr Fv Fere Mars Limen Sali Sta Berber (three times)
Semvnis Alternei Advocapit Conctos (three times)
E Nos Marmar Ivvato (three times)
Trivmpe (five times)

Afterwards, a very frugal meal can be eaten based on a simple soup of spelt, broad beans, lentils accompanied by simple flatbread and wine. Meat must be totally avoided.

Symbols

The Traditional Roman Religion is strictly linked to "symbols". Symbols are the springs of any thought. They allow a definition of the inner nature of the reality using, instead of rigid and simply verbal expressions, more complex and flexible relations.

A clear example of this value is given by Mars: in the Traditional Roman Religion this God is represented only by a lance provided with mana. In the Traditional Roman Religion. God/Goddess antropomorfical representations do not exist: the cultual Mars' imagine is a lance because this is the best Mars' representation (but a lance is not Mars!)

Any representation is an imprisonment but it is important, with sacred places, symbols and sacred elements, to sign the presence of these Invisibles (also to avoid to confuse an Invisible with another).

Simboli

November

November, whose name derives from the fact that it was the 9th month in the ancient calendar beginning in March, represents a period of "interiority". November follows the way of natural energy back under the ground during winter. This period is dedicated to underground Gods (Inferi) from who derives the energy for the on the surface.

November is thus dedicated to Pluto (Underground Jupiter) whose name means "extremely rich", and to Proserpina (the Girl walking like snakes). Pluto represents the deep, Proserpina a vital force nourishing life in spring.

Black animals, cypress and narcissus are sacred to Pluto. he can be evoked beating the hands on the ground

Novembre

Sacer, Sanctus

The term "sacred" has a relevant importance in a pagan life because "sacer" in Latin means "pertaining Gods". Consacrating means "give to Gods": a "Res Sacra" is something pertaining "Superi" Gods. Violating something sacred implies a Gods' judgement.

Res Sacrae are taken distinct from Res Religiosae (pertaining Inferi Gods) and Res Sanctae (whole violation implies a mankind's judgement - sentence)

Being anything permeated by a divine presence, anything "normal" is thus "sacred". For example:

family (Vesta) is sacred
a person (Genius fo man/Juno for woman) is sacred
places and sites (Genius Loci) are sacred
woods (Diana) are sacred
Earth (Tellus) is sacred
borders and limits (Terminus) are sacred
time (Kronos) is sacred
sea (Poseidon) is sacred
water (Neptun) is sacred
the dawn (Mater Matuta) is sacred
bread (Ceres) is sacred
...

The sleep, meals, animal, trees and plants, guests, anything can be related to a divine presence because Gods are not far away in the sky but around us being component of the existence. Anything thus is worth of "sacred" respect. Just what is abnormal is not sacred.

The term "Sanctus" (Holy) is linked to human activities whose violation depends on the mankind judgement: a site (a wood, a temple) can be sacred because a Pontifex has identified there a divine presence and the violation of this site implies the God's/Goddess' opposition. A profanation implies divine negative signs. A part of ths site may be defined by a Pontifex "Sancta" (Holy) whose profanation will imply some "Sanctiones/Sanctions" or the human's judgement.

Sacro, Santo

Being a Pagan...

What does it mean "looking at the world with Pagan Eyes"? It means primarily stop considering Earth as "something where we stamp our feet" or a simple scenario made only for the exhibition of the humankind's arrogance.

Humankind needs Earth and we need to live in harmony with Her also because "it is necessary to consider the whole Universe as a living being made of an unique substance and having an unitarian soul" (M. Aurelius, Roman Emperor)

It means we must permeate the visible world with the Invisibles because they are the critical support for life. Decadence and ruins in our present times (in environmental, cultural and ethical terms) result also by the fact that our lives lack of the Invisibles' support.

Gods and Goddesses do not require Faith or superstition: they require only not to be forgotten.

Q.A. Simmaco, Relatio (IV Sec. d.c.)

_________________________________

"It is right to consider an Unique Single Supreme Being, whatever is the idea of God one may venerate. We look at the same stars, we have the same sky and the same universe embraces us: it is not important what doctrine everyone seeks the Supreme Truth."

"It is not possible to achieve such a sublime Secret only through one sole way"

Q.A. Simmacus, Relatio

August

The original name of this month is Sextilis because it was the 6th month in the Ancient Calendar. Then it was named Augustus in honor of the Emperor Augustus.

This month is dedicated to harvest, storage and conservation (in a broader sense).

In particular August is dedicated to the Goddess Diana or the female polarity of Apollo.

Diana is defined as "Always Distant": she is a non-urban Goddess because she represents the sacralization of woods, forrests and wild places.

Her frantic dance, reserved only to women, is named "Ridda".

During the day Diana protects wild animals preserving their lives; during the night she hunts them giving them Death. In this way Diana embodies both Life and Death as deriving from an unique source.

Sacred animals to Diana are: lion, bear, deer, quail and hunting dog.

As Apollo is represented by the Sun, Diana is represented by the Moon. Her main symbol is the Bow representing the crescent moon and the "wild weapon".

In these days, to complete the male polarity of Apollo, also Fortuna Muliebre (Women's Fortune) is evoked

In addition, in the past, July 5th in Rome was dedicated to the Poplifugium: this is a rite similar to the Regifugium (february 24th) but in this case Roman people take to flight.

In the past the priestesses Vestals were devoted to this fire's conservation: they were virgins dressed in white and they preside over the main religious rites and they had the power to pardon those sentenced to death. They were lead by the Vestal Maxima, one of the most important religious figure in the Roman Traditional Religion.

29-31 May: Ambarvalia

Ambarvalia is a rural procession (Ambarvalia means "country walk") to honour agricultural and rural Gods/Goddesses. During the Roman Ambarvalia the suovetaurilia sacrifice was made: it was the sacrifice of a pig, a bull and a ram for the land's purification. After that in every farm and village country parties were held.

The sacred ministers who made this sacrifice were the Arvales: they called themselves Fratres (Brothers). These sacred ministers were devoted to Earth's cult with secret rites held in a sacred wood dedicated to the Dea Dia thorugh an arcaic Latin language. Their symbol was a spike.

During this festivity period today we may pay tribute to Earth and her fruits, to agricultural activities and to those animals which with their death give us life.

29 - 31 Maggio: Ambarvalia

This day is enterely devoted to the "underground fire" represented by the Great Goddess Maia.

In the past, 24 wicker puppets were made which, in presence of Pontifices, Vestals and the Roman People, were, after and complex ceremony, thrown in the river Tiber.

Today it is important to dedicate this day to our purification and to our family and home purification.

May 9th - 13th: Lemuria

According to the Roman Tradition, defuncts are divided into two main categories: Lares, whose lives were inspired to Virtus and Pietas and whose example ispire present and future generations. They are Ancestors protecting the family and the house: Lares have a small domestic altar (Lararium) usually close to the home-fire. Lares thus remain in their home.

Those not following Virtus and Pieats become shadows (Larvae o Lamures) and they cannot go back home after their death. While Lares are evoked as protectors, Lemures must be kept away. They are imprisoned in the Pluto's Inferi and only in rare occasions (as in this period) they can come back on the surface and come near their homes they look in the night with homesickness and regret (this condition make them very aggressive...)

In the past, villages in the Roman Empire had a well used to allow Lamures escape for these nights of "freedom".

Even if undeserving ancestors, Lemures are however part of the family and during this night the landlord must offer some food to Lemures. Lemures and living people cannot meet each other: so the landlord, at the doorstep and barefoot, purifyng three times his hands with pure water and turning his head, must throw nine times behind his back some black beans, Lemures' food, reciting this formula:

"With this food, I redeem myself and my family"

After that, he must wash his hands again and hit a bronze bell or a shield saying:

"Shadows, go away!"

Now he can see ahead again to verify that Lemures are gone away.

During Lemuria, marriages cannot be celebrated and temples are closed.

9 - 13 Maggio: Lemuria

April 25th: Robigalia

According to Roman Tradition, Gods/Goddesses are neither positive nor negative. There are very few cases of absolutely negative or positive divine energies.

One of these few Gods/Goddesses only negative is Robigo: the Rust. This is a kind of rust having not only physical (deseases slowing degerating human, animal and plant body), but also spiritual features (inertia, sloth, venom, envy).

During this day, in a sacred wood, rites are organized to keep Robigo away from our body, our mind, our family and friends, our lives.

25 Aprile: Robigalia

April 21st: Dies Natalis Romae - Palilie

Dies Natalis Romae.

Rome has been founded on 21st april 753 b.c. over the Palatine by Romolus with a rite based on the delimitation of the templum with a lituum, auspices' reading and interpretation, offering to Gods and to the Earth, delimitation of the sacred space with a lituum, construction of the pomerium (sacred border) traced on the ground with a plough's furrow, delimitation of the Via Sacra around the pomerium.

Through this rite Rome became not only a physical space, but also a metaphysical space where great energies and forces are concentrated. Rome is thus not only a "place" but also a "meta-place". Thanks to this consecration, or a translation into the Gods' dimension, Rome may be the center of other religions but it will remain the site of the Ancient Gods forever.

Costantinopolis is the only city in the world founded with the same rite.

__________________________________________________________

This day is dedicated also to the ancient Goddess Pale, Goddess of shepherds, sheep farming and flocks.

This is a purification day during which flat bread and milk are eaten and offered to this Goddess.

At night straw fires are lighted.
In the past cattle was passed three times through these fires as a purification rite.

lunedì 20 aprile 2009

21 Aprile: Fondazione di Roma - Palilie

Dies Natalis Romae.

March 19th: Great Quinquatria

In this day the 5 day period of the Great Quinquatria begins: these Quinquatria are named "Great" to distinguish them from the Small Quinquatria celebrated in June.

These five days are dedicated to Minerva or the sacralization of Intelligence. Minerva is "The Mind", the "thousand tasks' Virgin Goddess" and is represented by an armour, a helmet and a lance: she is "The Reason" and the Reason is always well armed.
In Ancient Rome was kept a wooden statue of Minerva which, according to the legend, was brought by Aeneas escaping from Troy. This wooden statue was destroyed by christians.

This is thus a period dedicated to science, music, art and poetry.

19 Marzo: Grandi Quinquatria

March 15th: Megalesia - Anna Perenna

In this day, the great esthatic festivities for the Great Mother Cybele, all the feminine major and minor energies, begin.

In particular this day is dedicated to elderly women because this day is dedictaed to Anna Perenna ("The years' Return"), an ancient Goddess.

Anna Perenna was an old woman who lived ina sacred wood near Rome. According to the myth, during a war between patricians and plebeians, Anna Perenna prepared a huge number of flatbreads for the plebeians besieged in the Monte Sacro in Rome saving them from starving.

In this ancient Goddess, the "years' return" is linked to a nourishing function.

Also this ancient Goddess is encompassed by Cybele. Cybele was represented in Rome by a big black stone: festivities dedicated to Cybele were named Megalesia because Cybele is named "The Great" (Megales in greek means "Great")

15 Marzo: Megalesia - Anna Perenna

March 14th: Equiria - Mamuralia

In the past, this day was dedicated to an ancient rite with a horses' race. In addition during this day a man dressed with animal skins, nicknamed Mamurius Veturius, was chased, beated and expelled from the city.

Today in this day we chase away all the negative elements and those things can intoxicate us: we keep apart those false and avid persons who can deceive us and a too heavy food with a frugal meal based on bread, wine and vegetables.

14 Marzo: Equiria - Mamuralia

March the 9th: Mars' Weapons

This is one of the most important March's festivity together with the lighting of the Sacred Fire of Vesta. After these 9 days, today the new year effectively begins.

This festivity is enterely biased on the idea of "activity" and "expansion" both in Nature's vegetative activity and in body biological activity.

For Ancient Romans this day implied also the beginning of military and war activities.

The Mars' Weapons were in the past 12 lances and 12 shields (lance is the Mars' symbol by definition) which were taken in procession along the streets in Rome. Actually the Mars' Weapons were a lance and a shield rained down from the sky: King Numa made 11 copies to prevent their theft.

At present, we dedicate this day to our activities and our psycho-physical re-generation reflecting also on this idea of "shield" to create a form of protection against physical and soul diseases.

March 7th: Iunonalia-Mars' Agonalia

The last day of the festivities of Matronalia is enterely dedicated to Juno, the female polarity of Jupiter, in this occasion named Juno Lucina (She-giving birth)

To unify this female generating polarity with the corresponding male generating polarity, in the past the festivity of Mars' Agonalia were held with gymn and sport activities.

Today, to honour this generating Goddess/God, outdoor sport activities can be performed above all in woods and in the country.

March 4th: Ludi Megalesi

In the past, in this day, the seven-day festivity dedicated to the Great Mother Cybele began. This festivity was characterized by sport games and sumptuous banquets

This is a period dedicated to women and their activtiies: today women should find time exclusively for themselves, meeting together to perform sport activities or organizing a dinner.

4 Marzo: Ludi Megalesi

March 1st: Matronalia and Fire of Vesta

On March the 1st the Sacred Year begins

During this day, the Sacred Fire of Vesta, which has continuously burnt in the last year, was put out and a new sacred fire was lighted for the next year.

This rite celebrated the Re-lighting of the Energy of Life. Symbolically we do the same today: we put out a fire to be re-lighted to synbolize the beginning of the new year with a new revitalizing force.

In this day also the Matronalia begins. This festivity is dedicated to Iuno and to solidity and prosperity of the Family. In particular this festivity is dedicated to Iuno Lucina (She Gives Birth) or Iuno protecting birth (delivery)

In this day it is better not to have knots because considered "impediments" to our regeneration.

March

After having celebrated the Februalia as final rite of purification during the last day of February, on March the 1st the Sacred Year begins.

March is thus a very important month characterized by many celebrations.

March is enterely dedicated to Life and Nature re-birth in all their expressions. This month is dedicated to generating forces converging into two polatiries: Mars (Male Polarity) and Cybele (Female Polarity)

Mars - usually wrongly associated to the God of War - is the "He-generating". he is symbolically Romolus and Remus father being in this way Father of the Roman People. Mars is the Fecundating Male Energy: Earth, Plants, Flowers, Fields, etc. He is defined as Marmor (shining, gleaming) but more frequently as Marmar (Reproductive Force of the Nature) or Gradivus (Fecundating Vegetation).

Sacred plants for Mars are: figtree and oak. Sacred animals are: wolf, horse and woodpecker.

If Janus is the sacralization of the "beginnings", Mars is the sacralization of the "activity" and "things' blossoming". To Mars are dedicated the "Sacred Pimavere" of youth who entered the adult life as foundators and fecundators.
His sacred symbol is a Lance.

Cybele is the female polarity of fecundity (She-Fecundating). Cybele is by definition the Great Mather embracing all the Goddess having specific characters. In the same time she is associated to the main Goddess: Iuno, Vesta, Tellus, Bona Dea, Maia, Gaia, Flora, Ceres, Pomona, etc.

Cybele is the perennial energy of the Nature renewal. She is the Lady of the Plants: pine, boxtree and oak are sacred plants to Cybele. She is also the Lady of the Animals. Humans have learnt from her how to cultivate corn and cereals.

Cybele's sacred symbols are: the Tower and the Lion.

Marzo

February 24th: Regifugium

During this day an ancient festivity was celebrated: the rex sacrificulus in front of the people offered a sacrifice and after that he took flight.

Many explanations about the meaning of this festivity has been proposed among which the commemoration of the chasing away of the last etruscan king of Rome.

However the inner sense of this festivity remains linked to purification: today our negative aspects are banished (like the rex sacrificulus) and our interior strength is empowered.

24 Febbraio: Regifugium

February 23rd: Terminalia

This day is dedicated to the sacred and symbolic value of the "limits" and the "borders" above all plots' and fields' borders (termini). In this day simple frugal flatbreads made of cereals are prepared and eaten in the country close to the sacred stones erected to limit fields.

These sacred stones are sacralized by the God Terminus (The Immovable).

23 febbraio: Terminalia

February 21st: Feralia

This day is dedicated to the defunts and to their memory.

Pagans and Trees

Trees play a relevant role in the Traditional Roman Religion. Paganism recognizes trees as living beings having a soul (spirit) corresponding to their specific species: trees are worthy of respect due to any living being.

Some trees may be indicated by "supernatural signs" and for this they are worthy of a cult.

In Roman Tradition often a God/Goddess or nymphes appear close to trees or turn into trees: in brief, the myth expresses the idea that trees have a soul. In some cases a nymph doesn't attribute a soul to a tree, because she appears as the materialization of the soul of a tree.

The identification of some trees with nymphes or other divine expressions describes an interpretation of Nature (within which anything has a precise sense and meaning) and the relations of man with natural species or the best way to establish a relation with them.

Maia - she-generating
Flora - she-producing flowers
Pomona - she-generating fruits

A wood becomes a sacred site. "Sacred" means "pertinent to Gods/Goddess": a sacred wood is therefore a Gods' site.

The most important sacred wood in Traditional Roman Religion is the Nemus Dianae or simply the Nemus. Diana is the spirit of savage woods and forests.
The term Nemus indicates a sacred wood comprising some clearings. A sacred wood may become, thanks to a Pontifex intervention, a Temple. The temple is a physical and metaphysical space traced by a Pontifex with a lituus (on the ground , in the air, on the water) where a numen may manifest his/her signs.

A classic temple with its columns represents a sacred wood.

In Traditional Roman Religion celebrations are held mainly outdoor around an altar possibly in sacred woods or close to trees.

Trees and plants are mainly divided into felices o infelices plants. It is extremely difficult to translate these terms because they do not correspond to the common sense; they haven't any positive/negative meaning or lucky/unlucky sense.
In general terms a felix tree is linked to supera Gods, while an infelix is linked to infera Gods.
  • Oak: felix tree dedicated to Jupiter (authority)
  • Olive tree: felix tree dedicated to Ceres (she-feeding)
  • Fig tree: felix tree dedicated to Mars (The Father)
Some plants and trees, for the presence of divine expressions, have a sacred name such as:
  • laurel- Daphne (ecstasy)
  • white poplar - Leuke (shining death)
  • lime tree - Filirias (divination, recovery)
  • black pine - Pitis (the tears)
  • walnut tree - Carias (the head)
  • almond tree - Philiades (the leaves)
  • cypress - Ciparissus (inconsolable sorrow)
  • mulberry tree - Piramus and Tisbe (separation)
  • blackberry- Moron (misfortune)

  • alloro - Dafne (estasi)
  • pioppo bianco - Leuke (albero della morte luminosa)
  • tiglio - Filiria (divinazione, guarigione)
  • pino nero - Pitis (le lacrime)
  • noce - Caria (la testa)
  • mandorlo - Filiade (le fronde)
  • cipresso - Ciparisso (dolore inconsolabile)
  • gelso - Piramo e Tisbe (separazione)
  • mora - Moron (sventura)

February 17th: Quirinalia

This day is dedicated to Quirinus/Hora Quirini. This God/Goddess is the sacralization of "men/women gathered in an Assembly". This is thus a Political God/Goddess.

Ancient Romans when engaged in peaceful and political activities named themselves Quirites.

Quirinus/Hora Quirini is one of the main divine Roman Triad (Iuppiter-Mars-Quirinus) and he/she had a specific Flamen (Guardian of the Sacred Fire) called Flamen Quirinalis: this Flamen was one of the Flamines Maiores (Main Guardians).

The Iuppiter's Flamen represents the magical power of Law and Justice, the Mars' Flamen represents the magical power of The Force and Quirinus' Flamen the magical power of Peace.

This day is thus enterely devoted and dedicated to Peace, discussion, peaceful activites and meditation.

17 Febbraio: Quirinalia

February 15th: Lupercalia

During the period of Parentalia, in this day the festivity of Lupercalia is celebrated.

The sunlight of the day is dedicated to fertility; magic animals are evoked in honour of the sacred she-wolf Luperca. The night is dedicated to curative sleeping and dreaming.

The festivity is dedicated to Faunus Lupercus- Luperca, God of wolves and she-wolves. Faunus Lupercus-Luperca, "the Favourable", is a sylvanus and forest God sending messages to whom is sleeping in his/her sacred woods and forest.

In the past, there was in Rome a sacred society (Luperci): these Luperci sacrificed goats in front of the sacred cave (please pay great attention to the relevant symbolic value of the cave in Roman Paganism), near the Palatinus, called lupercal. The lupercal was the Faunus' sacred site: close there was the Ficus Ruminalis where Romolus and Remus were found and whose fruits the twins have eaten. Luperca was the name of the she-wolf has found Romulus and Remus.

The naked Luperci, after having sacrificed the goats, dressed with goatskins, run around the Palatinus hitting with stripes of goatskin those women waiting to be hit because this rite gave fertility to women.

15 Febbraio: Lupercalia

February 13rd-21st: Parentalia

In this day Parentalia begin. Parentalia are festivities dedicated to defunct members of the family. The term Parentes indicates both parents and Ancestors.

Being February a month dedicated to Purification, Ancestors are remembered also within a purifying and pacifying perspective.

In particular, Parentalia are connoted by Pietas, a concept highly characterizing Roman Traditional Religion.

With regards to Parentalia and Ancestors' cult, Pietas is the way through which descendants evidence, with their behaviour and actions, the best and positive characteristics of a Family and Ancestors. Being the First Ancestor and the Older Ancestors closer to Gods, it means that descendants, to evidence the best of a Family (mos maiorum = as the Ancestors did), must Cultivate Gods (colere Deos) and follow their indications which allow men to stay on the Way (Via Romana). This is what Pietas really is and the meaning of Roman Tradition.

Asphodelus is the flower of Parentalia. During these festivities a very frugal meal is organized to remember Ancestors. The focal element of this meal must be the spelt because it represents the ancient food of the older Ancestors.

13-21 febbraio: Parentalia

Pagan Ethics/1

Paganism is essentially based on the ethics of the "end" and "limit". The measure of this "end" is Death. Everything is living is destined to die, but, even if destined to die, it doesn't mean that life is not worth living.

Everything has its own "time". It is important not to miss the joy life offers to us: "carpe diem".

We thus must "conquest our time" to valorize life as it is. We must live our life as well as our death with dignity. Death can arrive at any moment. We can win death living our life being aware of our limits.

Etica Pagana/1

Sulla morte - About Death

M. T. Cicerone

I have not any regret about my life becuase I have been useful, as my life evidences. Indeed I leave my life as I leave a hotel rather than a house. Nature offers to us a temporary accomodation, not a domicile.

If we are not destined to immortality, we have got no other alternative than hoping to leave when the moment will arrive. Nature sets right limits to life as well as she does for any other thing.

M. T. Cicero

February

February (Februa) is dedicated to purification. During this month the festivities are focused on the memory of defuncts, magical animals, peaceful activities and sleep. The tools used for purification are named februum.

It is important to remind that the traditional year will begin in March: thus purification during February is necessary to prepare the beginning of the new year.

This month is dedicated to Februus and Februa (male and feminine numen of "The Purifying") who, being positive energies, are opposed to Febris (The Fever), negative energy.

The festivities during February are thus linked to purification activities (for the body, spirit, sites, objects, etc.)

February the 1st - Amburbium: festivity for the purification of villages and cities and their public sites through a circular procession holding a februum (a purification tool). The same ceremony can be applied for home purification.
