When you, entering a forest, perceive the beauty of the forest and you feel to be in a complete harmony with it, then, intuitively, you are in peace with the Deities. They are an essential part of our real nature, our Deep Nature, and when we are separated by our real nature we live in the fear. Perceiving such normality means giving a real sense to our lives.

Undertaking the Roman Via to the Deities implies a path to awakening: with the practice of continuing consciousness and awareness we undertake our walking knowing that taking the path is more important than the destination itself

Ius Sacrum - XII Tables 2

In other fragments of the X Table it is possible to find the following norm:
"Separatim nemo abessit Deos neve
novos neve, advenas nisi publice
adscitos: privatim colunto quos rite
a Patribus acceperint"
____________
Let no one have particular Gods
neither new Gods nor foreign Gods,
unless publicly acknowledged,
privately let men preserve the cults and customs of their Fathers' rites
This norm doesn't ban the introduction of new cults and Deities and it is not inspired to any principle of intolerance.

This norm expresses primarily a prior respect to the Traditional Roman Cults and above all it evidences to Roman Cultores the sacred pact at the base of the traditional society itself, the Pax Romana and the Consensus Deorum. Roman Cultores are thus linked with a sacred pact of reciprocal respect based on antique rites defined by the Patres.

We, today representing the present and future Gentes, state, through the Pietas, this sacred Pact defined ab origine refusing those Deities in conflict with our ethics. This link is surely crucial at public as well as private level. Our communities are in fact composed of families with traditional cults held at home even before in external sacred sites or temples.
We must always keep in mind this principle and in this perspective this norm must be interpreted.

Ius Sacrum - XII Tavole: 2

"Separatim nemo abessit Deos neve
novos neve, advenas nisi publice
adscitos: privatim colunto quos rite
a Patribus acceperint"
____________

Nessuno abbia Dei particolari,
né nuovi né forestieri,
se non pubblicamente riconosciuti;

Ius Sacrum - XII Tables - 1

Just few fragments remain of the XII Tables, foundamentals of the traditional Roman Law. In particular the X table was focused on Ius Sacrum or the Divine Law. Very few fragments remain of this Table and often we can find some indications through some Latin writers who cite them.
In this way, we can identify some basic rules to "Colere Deos" according to the mos maiorum.

____________

Ad Divos adeunto caste
Pietatem adhibento
Opes amovento
Qui secut faxit
Deus ipse vindex erit

May they approach the Gods and Goddesses while pure and chaste,
bringing piety,
and leaving riches behind.
Whosoever should do otherwise,
will be avenged upon by the God Himself.

Cicero, De legibus, 2, 8-9

Ius Sacrum - XII Tavole - 1

____________

Ad Divos adeunto caste
Pietatem adhibento
Opes amovento
Qui secut faxit
Deus ipse vindex erit

Ci si accosti agli Dei in modo casto e puro
Si faccia uso della Pietà
Si tenga lontano lo sfarzo
Se qualcuno agisse in modo diverso
Dio stesso lo punirà

Cicerone, De legibus, 2, 8-9
