E Nos Lases Iuvate: July: festivities, festivals and rites

Quando in un bosco ne percepisci la bellezza e diventi tutt'uno con il bosco, allora, intuitivamente, sei in armonia e in pace con le Dee e con gli Dei. Essi sono parte della nostra vera natura, la nostra Natura Profonda, e quando siamo separati dalla nostra vera natura, viviamo nella paura. Percepire questa normalità vuol dire dare un senso reale al vivere che è insito in tutte le cose.

Intraprendere la Via Romana al Divino significa iniziare un percorso di risveglio: praticando l'attenzione e la consapevolezza continua ci incamminiamo lungo una strada sapendo che ciò che conta è il cammino per sè più che la destinazione.

When you, entering a forest, perceive the beauty of the forest and you feel to be in a complete harmony with it, then, intuitively, you are in peace with the Deities. They are an essential part of our real nature, our Deep Nature, and when we are separated by our real nature we live in the fear. Perceiving such normality means giving a real sense to our lives.

Undertaking the Roman Via to the Deities implies a path to awakening: with the practice of continuing consciousness and awareness we undertake our walking knowing that taking the path is more important than the destination itself.

July: festivities, festivals and rites

The sacred calendar for the rites during July is mainly focused on Apollo. In the following list I include some festivities and festivals which can be attended privately in a convivial way within the family, friends and the community.

5 - 13 July: Ludi Apollinares

In the past these festivals dedicated to Apollo (protector of Rome together with his female polarity, Diana) included also great music and theatre shows.

At present we can dedicate each day of the Ludi Apollinares to a peculiar aspect of Apollo

1 day - medicine: invocation to obtain health for the family, friends and all the living beings.

2 day - spiritual firmness: Apollo is always portraied standing firmly up. Invocation to obtain a quiet inner spiritual force

3 day - music and poetry: invocation to Apollo listening traditional music and reading poems

4 day - the Sun. Invocation to Helios

5 day - wisdom: invocation to obtain wisdom and prudence

6 day - hidden wisdom: invocation to strengthen personal wisdom and prudence

7 day - transcendence: spiritual exercises and practicing silence

8 day - transcendence: spiritual exercises and practicing silence

9 day - transcendence: spiritual exercises and practicing silence

5 luglio: Fortuna Muliebre

This day is focused on invocations to obtain health and fortune for all women

7 luglio: Iuno Caprotina

Festivity and rites dedicated to all women

15 luglio: Castores

This day is dedicated to the two polarities and cycles regulating Nature and the whole Universe

19 luglio: Lucaria

This day is devoted to all sacred woods (lucus) Meditations, spiritual exercises and invocations in a sacred wood.

23 luglio Neptunalia

Invocations to obtain water in the dry season.

25 luglio: Furrinalia

This day is dedicated to fresh water and springs

This blog collects information and my personal reflections about the Traditional Roman Spirituality. In particular here I reflect on the divine manifestations, on the divine energies, rites, worship and cerimonies (strictly linked to Nature) according to the Roman Traditional view within a perspective as modern as possible.

Cosa significa "Pagano"?/What does it mean "Pagan"?

Il termine "Pagano" è nato con un significato offensivo, dispregiativo e negativo. I pagani erano coloro che continuavano a praticare gli antichi riti (molto spesso nelle campagne - Pagus=villaggio) rifiutandosi di accettare la religione cristiana. Ancora oggi con questo termine spesso si indica tutto ciò che è immorale, popolare, volgare, idolatra e immondo. Al contrario i pagani, ieri come oggi, sono spesso e per definizione, avendo come base il politeismo, in prima fila nella difesa della Natura e dei valori della tolleranza e di tutto ciò che è “plurale”.

The term "Pagan" was created with a negative and offensive sense. Pagans were in the past those who were still seeking the ancient rites (above all in the countryside - Pagus=village) refusing the new christian religion. Still today this term often is used to indicate anything is immoral, popular, vulgar, idolatrising, etc. On the contrary, at present as in the past, the Pagans are those, on the base of polyteism, by definition in the frontline to defend Mother Nature and the values of tolerance and anything is "plural".

Come Cultrici e Cultori attualmente non disponiamo di un Tempio adeguato sia allo svolgimento dei rituali sia come punto di incontro, meditazione e studio. Cosa si potrebbe fare per realizzare questo progetto? Avete idee o proposte in merito?

As Cultores at present we have no adequate Temples or sacred sites both for traditional rituals and for meditation, study and meetings. What it could be done to concretely achieve and implement such a project? Have you any idea or suggestion about it?

Frugalità: vivere nella semplicità e nella sobrietà, allontanando gli eccessi e accontentandosi di ciò che è realmente necessario
Superiorità: mai sentirsi inferiore a nessuno nella pratica della Via
Umanità: operare per il bene degli altri e della comunità
Utilità: fare in modo che il proprio operato sia utile agli altri ed alla comunità
Pietà: ciò che vi è di buono e di cattivo in una famiglia è evidenziato dal comportamento dei discendenti. Abbiamo il dovere di mettere in luce ciò che vi è di buono nella nostra famiglia: solo seguendo il mos maiorum e coltivando gli Dei/Dee possiamo ottenere questo risultato e raggiungere la Pax Deorum.

Frugality: live in semplicity and sobriety, avoiding excesses and ostentation, being satisfied with you really need
Superiority: never feel inferior or second to anybody in practicing the Via
Humanity: operate for the others' and the community's well being
Usefulness: make your actions useful to others and to the community
Pietas: what is good and bad in a family is evidenced by the descendants' behaviour. Only following the mos maiorum and cultivating Gods/Goddesses we can evidence the best of our family and ancestors and build our Pax Deorum.
