The highest level of the Divine expression is articulated through a Triad or three key-manifestations of the Divine. The Triad describes the expression of the three main Divine Functions. The Traditional Roman Religion is based on a First Triad (or Archaic Triad) and a Second Triad. The First Triad is composed of Jupiter-Mars-Quirinus: the Second Triad is composed of Jupiter-Juno-Minerva.
The First Triad
The First Triad is mentioned in many religious formula and rituals (devotio, ritual of the Salii, consacration of spolia opima, etc…), and historically it was embedded and personified by the main flamines: the Flamen Dialis, the Flamen Martialis, the Flamen Quirinalis.
- The first function expressed by the Triad is Authority, sacralized by the theology and symbology of Jupiter: it is materialized into legal and sacral power and into Law.
- The second function is Force, in physical sense as well as fecundating energy, sacralized by the theology and symbology of Mars: it is materialized into martial activities and into the energy of Nature.
- The third function is Civil and Social Organization and Prosperity, sacralized by the theology and symbology of Quirinus: it is materialized into civil commitment and work activities
