E Nos Lases Iuvate: Even Details are Sacred

Quando in un bosco ne percepisci la bellezza e diventi tutt'uno con il bosco, allora, intuitivamente, sei in armonia e in pace con le Dee e con gli Dei. Essi sono parte della nostra vera natura, la nostra Natura Profonda, e quando siamo separati dalla nostra vera natura, viviamo nella paura. Percepire questa normalità vuol dire dare un senso reale al vivere che è insito in tutte le cose.

Intraprendere la Via Romana al Divino significa iniziare un percorso di risveglio: praticando l'attenzione e la consapevolezza continua ci incamminiamo lungo una strada sapendo che ciò che conta è il cammino per sè più che la destinazione.

When you, entering a forest, perceive the beauty of the forest and you feel to be in a complete harmony with it, then, intuitively, you are in peace with the Deities. They are an essential part of our real nature, our Deep Nature, and when we are separated by our real nature we live in the fear. Perceiving such normality means giving a real sense to our lives.

Undertaking the Roman Via to the Deities implies a path to awakening: with the practice of continuing consciousness and awareness we undertake our walking knowing that taking the path is more important than the destination itself.

Even Details are Sacred

The presence of "divine" in any single act and moment of human existence represents an important aspect of traditional roman religion. Each single detail of life around us is thus depicted by "small Gods/Goddesses". Making details sacred basically means to give a special respect for them.

Children's birth and life are typical examples of this divine presence:

Vitumnus/a - giving life
Sentinus/a - giving feelings
Opis - she takes the child from the soil at birth
Vaticanus/a - first child's whimpers
Levana - she takes the child from the ground
Cumina - she defends the baby in the cradle
Potina - she quenches child's thirst
Educa - she nourishes children
Paventinus/a - he/she defends childred from fear
Abeona - she defends the child when going to school
Adeona - she defends the child when coming back from school

In the same way, agriculture is characterized by the presence of many Gods/Goddesses.

Vervactor - the fallow
Reparator - mending fields
Imporcitor - great ploughing
Insitor - the sowing
Oberator - superficial ploughing
Occator - the harrow
Sorritor - the rake
Messor - the harvest
Convector - transporting harvest
Conditor - harvest storage

Cosa significa "Pagano"?/What does it mean "Pagan"?

Il termine "Pagano" è nato con un significato offensivo, dispregiativo e negativo. I pagani erano coloro che continuavano a praticare gli antichi riti (molto spesso nelle campagne - Pagus=villaggio) rifiutandosi di accettare la religione cristiana. Ancora oggi con questo termine spesso si indica tutto ciò che è immorale, popolare, volgare, idolatra e immondo. Al contrario i pagani, ieri come oggi, sono spesso e per definizione, avendo come base il politeismo, in prima fila nella difesa della Natura e dei valori della tolleranza e di tutto ciò che è “plurale”.

The term "Pagan" was created with a negative and offensive sense. Pagans were in the past those who were still seeking the ancient rites (above all in the countryside - Pagus=village) refusing the new christian religion. Still today this term often is used to indicate anything is immoral, popular, vulgar, idolatrising, etc. On the contrary, at present as in the past, the Pagans are those, on the base of polyteism, by definition in the frontline to defend Mother Nature and the values of tolerance and anything is "plural".

Come Cultrici e Cultori attualmente non disponiamo di un Tempio adeguato sia allo svolgimento dei rituali sia come punto di incontro, meditazione e studio. Cosa si potrebbe fare per realizzare questo progetto? Avete idee o proposte in merito?

As Cultores at present we have no adequate Temples or sacred sites both for traditional rituals and for meditation, study and meetings. What it could be done to concretely achieve and implement such a project? Have you any idea or suggestion about it?

Frugalità: vivere nella semplicità e nella sobrietà, allontanando gli eccessi e accontentandosi di ciò che è realmente necessario
Superiorità: mai sentirsi inferiore a nessuno nella pratica della Via
Umanità: operare per il bene degli altri e della comunità
Utilità: fare in modo che il proprio operato sia utile agli altri ed alla comunità
Pietà: ciò che vi è di buono e di cattivo in una famiglia è evidenziato dal comportamento dei discendenti. Abbiamo il dovere di mettere in luce ciò che vi è di buono nella nostra famiglia: solo seguendo il mos maiorum e coltivando gli Dei/Dee possiamo ottenere questo risultato e raggiungere la Pax Deorum.

Frugality: live in semplicity and sobriety, avoiding excesses and ostentation, being satisfied with you really need
Superiority: never feel inferior or second to anybody in practicing the Via
Humanity: operate for the others' and the community's well being
Usefulness: make your actions useful to others and to the community
Pietas: what is good and bad in a family is evidenced by the descendants' behaviour. Only following the mos maiorum and cultivating Gods/Goddesses we can evidence the best of our family and ancestors and build our Pax Deorum.
