During this day an ancient festivity was celebrated: the rex sacrificulus in front of the people offered a sacrifice and after that he took flight.
Many explanations about the meaning of this festivity has been proposed among which the commemoration of the chasing away of the last etruscan king of Rome.
However the inner sense of this festivity remains linked to purification: today our negative aspects are banished (like the rex sacrificulus) and our interior strength is empowered.
